As I’ve found last week, relying on GameMaker’s physics is not suitable for me. And this video pointed out that it’s better not to rely on GM’s internal functions/variables too much. Hence the rewrite.
I found this great tutorial ( and video too ) by Shaun Spalding, creator of Another Perspective ( awesome game I might add ).
I implemented the technique, added my own code for wall and ceiling climbing and now I have full control over the bot’s movements.
Oh and I removed collision and keyboard events from the bot’s object. So I only have Create and Step events ( and DrawGUI to write my debug texts ).
Time to add new features.
